THE ROYAL WEDDING.
SELECTION OF THE TROUSSEAU.
!Elec- Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn. •Australian and N.Z Cable Association. LONDON, Feb. 11. Details of Princess Mary’s trousseau are arousing great interest among British womenfolk. Many pictures and long descriptions of the dresses and hats have been published. The keynote is sterling commonsense. The selection is due to Queen Mary’s recollection that as the Duke and Duchess of Teck were by no means rich, Queen Victoria, insisted on providing the trousseau upon Royal lines. Tlie result was magnificent but hopelessly impractical. Queen Alexandra, once said that her o.wn trousseau was so wonderful that the first thing, she did when she reached London was to buy some clothes to' wear.
Princess Mary's- purchases are all British. The coats and skirt are of simple style. All the dresses are ankle length, and they include a number of jumper’s, which are the favorite garment of the Princess. These were made by officers’ families.
The Queen, at the wedding, will wear a. gold laco gown with Russian toque of opalescent sequins, draped 1 with gold lace.
Wedding presents are pouring in. The Harrow boys sent a Chippendale mirror and a pair of old dressing tables. Fifty thousand V.A.D.’s of the Empire have given a diamond tiara. The Queen is giving the bride an illuminated' copy of the marriage service, based on an ojd manuscript. Then 215,000 Girl Guides and Brownies sent a silver cheese tray, and a citizen, of Edinburgh a brooch which belonged) to Many Queen of Scots.
