PARLIAMENT’S LAST ACT.

The Appropriation Act, the last mcasuro to bo passed by Parliament, makes provision for the following total appropriations: Ordinary revenue account, £16,169,370; general purposes account, Public Works Fund, £5,542,548; separate accounts, £4,791,876. The indemnity ns to unauthorised expenditure is £671,591, and the debts irrecoverable £54,824. Authority is given for the payment of commission to officers of the Government Life Insurance Department, State Firo Insurance Office, and National Provident Fund Office, and the cost of living bonus to superannuated State servants is to be renewed on the following basis: To pensioners in necessitous circumstances, in receipt of a pension or other retiring allowances of less than £IOO per an mini, a maximum bonus of £4O, the bonus in no case to bring the total to more than £100; to widows a maximum bonus of £26; to or on behalf of any child, a maximum bonus of £2O. The bonus is not to bo taken into account in computing the income of any person receiving a pension under the Pensions Act, 1915. Authority is given for the purchase of war material for the post-war equipment of the New Zealand military forces out .of the war expenses account.
Payment of travelling expenses to members of Parliament, on account of the Christmas adjournment is authorised.
Payment by Hospital Boards of travelling expenses of delegates to the Hos pitnl Boards Conference is validated. —The Bill was read a third time.
When the House resumed at 7.30, a message was received from tho Legislative Council that they had passed tho Appropriation Bill, which they returned to the House as one of their Bills of Supply. The Speaker then announced that lie would proceed to Government House to secure the signature of the Govi+nor-Gcncral to the Bill, and the House would resume on his return. Tho Speaker returned later and announced that the Governor-General had, in tho name of his Majesty, assented to the Appropriation Act.
