Pedestrians in Symonds street near Grafton bridge (Auckland) heard cries proceeding from the cemetery gully. A constable and a number of men made their way in (he direction of the cries, and discovered at the bottom of the gully a young man. He told the constable that he had swallowed the contents of a bottle which he held in his hand. Ho was helped up to the street, and thpn taken to (he hospital, where he is progressing favorably.
