Los Angeles authorities declare that mysterious influences arc working in regard to their investigation of the Taylor murder. The police questioned Taylor’s chauffeur, who was a brother of Taylor’s assisting director. Tho chauffeur said, at New Year, Mabel Normaiul and Taylor had a violent quarrel, whereafter Taylor broke down and wept. Next day he took a gift of jewellery to Mabel Normand, who admitted having exchanged valuable gifts with Taylor, and also the closest friendship, but denied, an engagement to marry him. The police arc certain that Taylor was. killed ten minutes after Miss Normand left his home, where she came to borro’w a book.
