FATALITY AT TE KARAKA.
OVERTURNING OF A DRAY.
A fatality occurred at To Karaka yesterday, the victim being a native named “Sonny” Rum. . 'Hie facts in the possession ,of the police indicate that Burn, in company with a Maori boy, was driving a two-wheeled dray, carrying a load of manuka firewood, Ruru riding on top of the load 1 . The boy dismounted in order to open a gate and the dray stopped on a rough siding. When it began to move on again to pass through the gate, it overturned, and Ruru was pinned down beneath the load of wood. Assistanco was obtained, but by the time the dray and the -wood were removed tho native was dead. An inquest is to be held this afternoon at Te Karaka.
