There was a remarkable finish to the Reece-McConachy match. The scores at the afternoon interval were: McConachy 15,141, Reece 14,99/. During the evening Reece regained the lead and then defaulted, declaring that lie must catch his train. McConaehy was declared the winner amid a scene wherein the crowd hissed Recce. The scores were: McConaehy 15,605, Reece 15,606.
