EXILED KING'S PAY.
"BRITAIN PREPARED TO FIND THE MONEY" PARIS, Nov. 20 While at its meeting on Wednesday . the Ambassador's Conference did not fix any definite amount for the allowance to be made to the ex-King Carl of -Hungary dining Ins exile with his wife Zita at Madeira, (lie general view was that'll must be treated, in a manner suitable to his former rank, and sums of £12,000 to £2ojooo a, year are stated to have been mentioned. Pending the conclusion of definite arrangements with the Succession Stales of the late Austro-Hiiiigarian Empire and possibly Italy, Britain appears to bo prepared to find whatever money- is necessary. The question of Carl's debts in Switzerland is on a different, footing, and these appear unlikely to be met. as the new States are altogether unwilling to accept responsibility for them. They are reported to amount to anything between £IO,OOO and £15,000.
