Hussey cables: Shaeklelon’s body wan roughly embalmed aboard the Quest. It was dressed in blue and white pyjamas, shrouded with canvas, sealed in zinc easing and placed in a coffin of plain deni ease, covered with a tar stained Union Jack. When the body reached Monte Video it was properly embalmed and placed in a good coffin.
There was a chain of coincidences connected with tho Andes acting as funeral ship for Sliackleton. When the Quest, first limped into Lisbon the Andes was (lie first to welcome and entertain the explorers. Later tHo Quest met (be Andes on her homeward journey at Rio. Again they entertained and wished the explorers “God speed.” The ships went on their respective ways. Now, the Andes, again on an outward voyage, finds the body waiting convcyakieo to. tlie Homeland. She will reach .Southampton on March 2.
