KAITI HILL PARK.
—«>- CARRIAGE DRIVE ACCESS. The negotiations proceeding between the Borough Council and the Gisborne Sbeepfavmers F.M. and M. Co,, in respect, to tho carriage'drive access to the Kaiti Hill park, were referred to in a letter from the company, placed before last evening’s meeting of the Council. The letter was as follows: ‘"His Worship the -Mayor,-—I have placed the recommendations of the deputation, which Mr. Barton" and yourself were good enough to make to me, as to certain alterations in regard to your proposals for loading the Kaiti Hill, before the BoarS. By our letter of August 14, 1920, you were advised as to the conditions upon which the company would allow the road to be taken from Ranfuriv road and extended on to the face of the hill so as to connect with the property under municipal control. I understand from your deputation that'it is now desired at a certain point on the road, as formerly conceded to you, to vary the line by coming down a little lower than was originally proposed, and as recently flagged and pointed out to the officials of the company by Mr. Darton. Your deputation also asked that certain fence lines might be slightly varied to suit the actual conditions on the ground. ’ The company has no objection to the alteration of thfe road line, tis pointed out to our officials, nor to any reasonable modification of flic fencing lines to overcome natural difficulties, always provided: (1) That the final tracing or plan of the road as a whole is approved by Messrs. Grant and Cooke, and signed by the generalmanager; (2) that the conditions in our former letter of August 14. 1920, hereinbefore referred to, are adhered to, and that all modifications of fence lines arc to be done without cost to the company, and subject to the approval on the ground of our appointee; (3) that tho portion of Ranfufly road, from the corner of Panin street to the ralte-oit towards the bill is formed and dedicated.—Your faithfully, C. A. deLautour.” In reply to Cr. Bail, the Town Clerk stated that the acceptance of tho dedication would cost the Council a couple of thousand pounds. The deputy-Mayor moved, and Cr. Robertson seconded, that the Council accept all the conditions, with tho exception of clause three. The resolution was carried.
