MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION.

(Per Pres« Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A conference of delegates of the Municipal Association of New Zealand was opened this morning by tho GovernorGeneral. There was a very large attendance, including Sir F. Bell, who made some references to legislation which the Department of Internal Affairs proposes to introduce in regard to local body overdrafts. The conference adopted a proposal made by the Devonport Borough Council, that the ratepayers and freeholders' roll and the residential electors' roll should be prepared, omitting unnecessary particulars. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Pellringcr (New .Plymoutli), that Section 13 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, should be amended to authorise the Town Clerk to add to the 'district electors roll the names of electors whose < hiimg for enrolment have been actually received by him before the. time fixed by the Act for tho closing of such roll.
