'['he topsail schooner-Elsie Mary was expected to finish loading general cargo at Auckland In-tray, and sail I hence for Oisborne. An unusual feature was to lie noticed this morning when the Harbor Board's Nos. 1 and 2 sheds were locked. It was explained that there was practically no cargo in them, and owing to the employment of the tally clerks on (he boats and in No. '1 shed, it was considered best to keep them locked. Neverthless, those who desired to obtain cargo could do so. The Arahura brought transhipments for Oisborne this I rip ex the'Wesl "Hingston and Pakeha. Large supplies of produce were being landed at tho wharf today ex the former vessel. Yesterday over 400 tons of cargo was landed from the Koranui. the work commencing at 9 a.m. A large number of men are being employed in the working of the vessel. ' The overhaul of the launch Irnnui • should be finished shortly. The wreckage which was recently w.-fshed up ai New Plymouth is still arousing comment in shipping circles ' (states the Dominion). It, lias'been de- ' finitely established that ii comes from' an American-built ship. The wreckage undoubtedly bore traces of American workmanship, and only an American builder would use Oregon pine. The general opinion seems to be that the washed-up timbers come from the Omega. This schooner was lost on a trip between Hobart and New Zealand seme time ago, and it is thought .hat "he vessel has gone to pieces somov.iere, end } the wreckage is only, now being v j shed i up by the ocean currents. So far as j

can be learnt thole in no oilier American vessel overdue in adjacent, waters, and this strengthens the theory that the wreckage washed ashore is from the Omega. • The wharf which was recently irjotted to be floating about the Taaman Sea is expected to ground somewhere near New Plymouth in the course of a few days, unless some cross-current • whirls it elsewhere.' Some shipping men question whether it was a wharf which the Kawatiri sighted, or whether it, was not part of a schooner or sailing v.essei. it is quite possible that this is also part of the Omega wreckage, and that the planks and decking washed up at New Plymouth are part and parcel of it. The following have booked passages by the Arahura, sailing from Gisboriie for Napier to-night : Misses Fletcher, Oven. Morell, Hammond, Monckton, Thomas, .Harding, Ferguson, Lloyd, Sheridan, I Derinehy, Delahaiiy, Dawson," Foster, j McPherson, Lott ; Mesdames Stratton, Clare, Fletcher, Page, Tunnicliife, Mar tin, Hill and infant, Stone, Stanley, Parker and infant, Lines, Schwabe, Taylor, Power, Holdsworth, Blair, Jeurie, j O'Connell and infant, Brook, Clemens-; ! The gale increased in force as the vessel neared Pallisei Bay, and at 3/a.m. on Thursday, when she was half way across the bay, the" captain decided to put about. The vessel sheltered off Toroa, and 'was joined there by the Rama. She left her temporary anchorage at. 9.30 a.m. on Friday, and passed Palliser at 11.30 a.m. A heavy westerly gale was ■blowing, hut at, about 3 o'clock in (he afternoon • it, dropped.
