i -»■ *rj REMITS FOR CONFERENCE. Al the i'ot(nightly meeting of the Poverty iiay centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union, there were present: Messrs A. E. L»a\y, cnuiriutiu, L. Ogier, A. Sheen, \V. S. McKee, L. Nicol, J. Shandley, T. O. Lawless, H. ,J. Edwards, C. Corlett, E. I’ndney, M. Griffen, ami A. Sutton, lion see. The chief business of the evening was the framing of remits for the annual conference of the controlling body, and after a full discussion, a seiies of remits were drafted for dispatch to headquarters embodying the following proposals: That in a chopping contest, the block must he chopped clean off with the a.\e, any competitor pushing off the block with the hands to be disqualified; that competitors be represented by two members on centre committees; that the monthly athletic calendar be resuscitated; that in chopping contests two judges must act with an umpire, and that the umpire’s decision must he final; that one hnndicapper should be appointed for enob island, for chopping and sawing events; that prize money he subject to a deduction of 5 per cent., half of this percentage to he allocated to the handieapper, and the other half tc he earmarked for expenses of competitors selected to attend the New Zealand championship meetings; that the headquarters of the Union he transferred to the North Island.
