THE AMATEUR ADVENTURESS.
At tho Opera House on Friday and Saturday next, the Rosemary Rees English Comedy Company will appear in “The Amateur Adventuress,” a comedy of London life, by the actress-play-wright, of which high reports have come forward. The story is one in which the interest is thoroughly sustained, a rare thing in farce comedy, and tho situations come one after the other in rapid succession. The dialogue is.smart and up-to-date, and the characters are varied and true to tho Bohemian types, as met. and seen by Aliss Rees in London. 11 is distinctly a unique theatrical event for an artist who lias made a name as a writer of successful plays in London and elsewhere round the world, to return to her native land and produce one of her own comedies. Aliss Rees has had a very varied experience as a leading actress, and after supporting some of the best known stars in England she herself rose to stardom and appeared in many of the greatest successes of recent years, not only in comedy but in emotional parts. In this comedy she has most ex-cellent-acting opportunities, as have ail the supporting artists. Katie Towers, one of tho host- character actresses who has ever visited Australia, appears as Sarah O’Kelly, a fine comedy role. Harold Moran, late lead with J. C. Williamson and J. and N. Tail, is Owen Freeland, an artist and poet. Distinct characterisations will also be given by Kora King, Nio Marsh,_ GeurgT Broad. Gregory Lawson, and Richard Lanauze. Box plans open at Miller’s Corner on Tuesday.
