“GO-SLOW” IN QUEENSLAND.
STATE COLLIERY TO CLOSE
BRISBANE, June 2.—The Minister for Mines (Mr. Jones) lias issued instructions lor closing down the State coal mine at Baralaba, Central Queensland. 'ilie Minister says he understands that the men at Baralaba decided to limit their daily output to two and a-half tons a man, and he was not going to be a fool employer and let it go out to the world that they were working an eightfoot seam and putting coal on the trucks at a loss of 2s lOd per ton. The men bad stopped production at crib time, and had spent the rest of the shift preparing their places for the following day’s work. Ho regretted to have to be antagonistic to the working men, but lie considered that it was his duty to the State to carry the mine on successfully.
