On Sunday afternoon last a lady-who resides on her shop premises in (Hailstone road, heard a. peculiar noise and clatter, and on going to the rear of her shop, she was surprised to find a hoy of about 12 years, armed with an axe, and attempting to break open the door. The hoy \ncrdless to say lie,at a. hurried retreat, Tho matter was reported to tho police. .'This morning the lady in question saw the two boys arrested this morning by Detective McLeod, lint was not able to identify either as the culprit.
In connect ion with tho two hoys arrested by Detective McLeod this morning, and who subsequently appeared in the Juvenile Court, Detective McLeod informed His Worship that had Iho hoys 1 cen over tho age of 16 they would have Peon chart/ed with the more serious offence of breaking and entering, hut as 1 hev were under that age he was compelled to charge them with theft only.
