TERRIBLE FIRE TRAGEDY.
DEATH OF THREE CHILDREN. FIVE OTHERS ESCAPE. WANGANUI, Inst, night. A terrible tragedy occurred to-night, three children losing their lives as a result of a tire in a dwellinghouse in Nibblet street. Their names are Frederick Arthur Bishop, aged ’64 years; Dloyd George Bishop, d years; Cordon Harold Bishop, aged 2 years. Eight children .were in' the house in charge of Miss Gray, the mother having gone to a neighbor’s. The brigade was on the scene in good time, but the flames had n good hold. On learning that the children were in the house, the brigadesmen searched in the smoke-tilled room and found the bodies of the-children named. .Evidently they were dead long before the alarm was given. For some time, consternation was caused, by a report that live more ehildfen were in the .building, but later it was discovered that a neighbor had rescued them, though one was®so badly burned that she had to be sent to a hospital. A fourth victim.; of last night's fire tragedy, Louisa danet Bishop, died to--dav of shock and burns.
