ASSASSINATION.
SPANISH PREMIER SHOT. ’ e MADRID, March 9. The Premier Dato was assassinated by a revolver shot while he was quitting Congress.—A. and N.Z.C.A. ATTACK BY MOTOR-CYCLISTS. DATO RECEIVES MANY WOUNDS. (Received March 10, 8.50 a.m.) MADRID, March 9. Three men on motor-cycles pursued and overtook Signor Dato’s motor-par after it left the Senate. They fired twenty-seven shots. Dato’s chauffeur rapidly drove to a doctor’s. Dato had many wounds and died en route. His assailants escaped. (Received March 10, 12.30 p.m.) MADRID, March 9. The attack on Dato was the outcome of a syndicalist plot of reprisal for the suppression of the Barcelona disorders. Extreme syndicalists regarded Dato as a sworn enemy.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
