CHILDERS ROAD RESERVE.
!■'■ The Borough Council last evening, received from the Poverty Bay Rugby •Union an application for the rental of No. 1 ground-on tin: Domain and Nos. 1 and 2 grounds on the Childers Road Reserve, for the' ensuing football season. An application was also forwarded by the Hockey Association for, the use of two grounds on the reserve, and suggesting that a lease be granted lor, say, five years, the Association offering the usual rental and ' also a gu’a’rantee to 'spend, £BD per year in improvements, ,alVd also for the laying, out of an unimproved portion of the .ground as a (playing field. A deputation, it was advised, would wait upon the Council in’ regard to the request. ■ On the’suggestion of the Mayor it was decided to'refer the. applications to the Reserves Committee, when representatives of the different sports bodies could • be’ present.. - ‘. A 1 deputation I'iom the Hockey Association, ’ comprising Messrs G. -R, Buscke and A'.' .Stubbings, waited on the Council,, and when acquainted of this decision notified their satisfaction'.
