WELLINGTON, this day. Tlie' Tramways Amendment Bill, was read a first time in, the House, on - the motion of the Hon. J. G. Coates,' who stated that owing to the large demand for timber, small sizes were being cut from • worked-oub -bush, and discarded tramways were being used. There was no power of official inspection, and as accidents had happened the Bill gave power to owners, contractors, or workmen to call for an official, inspection of bridges and tramlines.— Parliamentary Reporter.
