SHIPPING TROUBLE IN SYDNEY
SYDNEY, Nov. 9. Nine members of the crew of the Commonwealth steamer Bellata have been convicted on charges of disobedience and combining to impede the navigation of the ship. Tliey received sentences of from four to twelve weeks* imprisonment. The charges arose through the cooks refusing duty unless an extra hand was engaged, and the men refusing to commence the voyage without the cooks.
The Seamen's Union now threaten to hold a stop-work meeting to discuss what action to take.— U.P.A.
