The partnership had yielded 43. Richardson brought the first century, a ball to leg glancing oif Howell to the boundary. The 100 was made in 24 minutes. Howell had bowled twelve overs for 20. He was relieved by Douglas. When c. Pellew drove Douglas . a left-hand and the latter made a magnificent catch. Pellew had made seven boundaries with ideal driving. Richardson took up the partnership, but the scoring was slow. Douglas was "no-balled" twice. V. Richardson, at 11, was brilliantly caught by Hobbs at cover. Gehrs followed, and beautifully hooked Wilson to the fence, but was clean bowled by Howell at 14. Sterling was bowled second ball by Howell. Rundell joined A. Richardson. The latter was missed on the outfield by Hendren at 36. The scoring was slow— 73 overs, 1 wicket, 72 runs. Woolley relieved' Hearne. Richardson hit to the boundary, making o0 in 92 minutes. Richardson, in a solid variety of hits off Parkin, brought 200 up by a late-cut to the pavilion. The tea adjournment arrived with six wickets down for 208, Richardson 64, Rundell 18. On resuming there was bright cricket. Richardson sQuare-drove Douglas to the boundary with a fine hit, and a late cut to the same bowler secured 4 for Rundell. Richardson brought up the century in 70 minutes. He played a great innings, treating all bowlers alike. Rundell cut Wilson to the boundary, making his 50. Richardson reached the century In 151 minutes. He had made twelve fours. Rundell's late cuts were superb. The stand of the batsmen was a pleasant surprise in the bad , light. Rundell cut Wilson for four. Three hundred were hoisted— Rundell 70, Richardson 103. The light became worse. Rundell reached 75, when he was bowled by Hearne.
