Boss reported th-it Piitchard, who was admitted to the. hospital a lew days ago, was m a critical condition. ; I'roceeding by car to Messrs. Niven'd foundry accused Williamson was arrested by ' Sub-Inspector Cassells and Detective McLeod. Accompanied by Messrs H. K. Hill and H. M. Porter, J's.P., , together with the comfc officials and Mr. j H. BuU, representing accused, the officials proceeded to the Gisborne hos-p-tal to take the depositions of the injured man. ■ A report received from the hospital this afternoon stated that the young I man Harry. Pritchard was conscious only %t intervals The" injuries' were sustained on the 3rd inst, but two days- ago ! Pritchard was admitted to hospital, ! Avhen it was found thafc he was suffering from laceration of the .brain. The polica on learning of his condition to-day, decided to act at once and m the absence of Mr. * Barton K.M., called upon the justices to hold a court at the bedside of the jrijured man, Avhich was done. Accused Williamson and his solicitor were present and on a remand being granted Mr. Bull applied for bail. SubJnspector Cassells objected to bail being planted, but the justices allowed bail m the sum of £SCO and a surety of £500. Bail was subsequently forthcomiijg.
