OHRISTOHURCH. last night. Word has been received from London that the New Zealand Shipping Com-| puny is having built four new steamers for trade between New Zealand and London. The steamers are to l?ear the names of Hurunui, Te Koa, Tongariro, and Turakina, and two of thorn are to be delivered bf the builders at tho end of -the present year and the. other two early m the' next year. In addition to the foregoing,, the same dompany. has had built tlie steamer Piako, the delivery of which is being given this month* All- these steamers will be insulated fori conveyance of frozen meat, dairy I produce and fruit, besides which they will have special holds set apart for [wool and other general cargo. — Press Assn.
