INTER-COLLEGIATE MATCH: GISKORNE ;* (12) V. NAPIER (5). The inter-collegiate Rugby football match between Gisborne and Napier High Schools attracted a large crowd to the Reserve yesterday afternoon, and, despite drizzling rain, wliich towards the closing stages miide the ball hard to hold and the ground slippery, a rather good game was witnessed. Gisborne: Hansen, Priestley, Mouat, Te Awarau, Pere, Bull, Hampton, Dods, Black, McCoy, Otfrson, McKeague, Frazer, Rangri, and Poynter. The game opened with Napier -on me aggressive, and for a while play was confined to Gisborne'*-' half.but finally a good! kick by _•_ Awarau, followed up closely, ' took the game to the other 25 line.: After a scrum here, Napier cleared with! a good- passing rush, and play returned to hiidfteld. where it alternated back; and forth*, for some time. Napier executed several good passing rushes, which the local backs blocked well, and. Here a protracted struggle ensued, Pere finally breaking away and falling toy a --'swift tackle almost Within reach of the line. From a scrum pl&y worked across.. field, a rush, m which McCoy, Mouat, and Pere flgtii'ed, again bringing GlsbOrne clcsc : to the line, where, after a 'short tussle, McKeague succeeded tn getting over. Pere failed to convert. Gisoorhe 3, Napier nil. Gisborne again attacked, and worked close to the line. Here ah ' unfortunate fumble by the Napier ' back gave the ball into Moiiars hand, and a quick run by the latter 'secured "the" second try for Gisbdrne. From the kick, Napier advanced to' Gisborne's home quarter, and a likelylooking run was stopped by a fine tackle by Mouat, who succeeded m working the ball upfield over the side line.
