The State elections m Maine show that the Republican majority is approximately 40,000. ,The Republican, leaders claim that Maine has repudiated the Wilson administration and the League of Nations.. Maine is the only State m the Union whose elections occur m. Sep* tember instead of November, and it has become an axiom that the nations vote always followed ■'Maine's vole, although 1912 and 1916^ were exceptions, the State voting Republican, and the nation Democratic- Republican.
