What is probably the finest exposition , of motor car manufacture ever landed m Gisborne was put ashore at the end of last week, m the "Twin Six" Packard roadster recently imported from America by Mr. A. M. Lewis. The engine, which has no rated horse-power, but is estimated to be from 70 to 100 h.p., is of the Liberty motor design, and is a marvel of compactness. The custombuilt body is ,exquisitely finished, and was manufactured *at the Fleetwood carbody works, of pressed sheet aluminium, placed on a hickory frame, but kept from contact with it by a lining of sheet felt. The accommodation is normally for three passengers, but a beautifully neat and capacious emergency seat at the rear provides for another. The upholstery is, of course, m keeping with • the car, and remarkably comfortable. The car is lighted by eleven lights, tyvo of which are under th b hood and one on the switchboard, and several novelties m motor equipment are introduced. Noticeable among these is an electric cigar lighter, -and a: small light that indicates m the dark the height of the door- from the_ ground. The benzine tank is divid--1 ed into two compartments, one of which holds an emergency ration of three gallons of fuel. The springing of the body is of the Usual type, but of infinite resiliency. The consumption of fuel is very low, 14 miles to ' the "gallon being the estimated mileage, and the whole equipment is of the latest design. The car, though priced above the means of the average citizen, is certainly a fine example of ingenuity and skill of the makers.
