CARPENTIER LEAVES AMERICA.
NEW YORK, July 15.—Mobbed by a crowd of reporters and photographers, Carpentier and his wife, accompanied by M. Descamps, left for France by the La Touraine after twelve weeks' tour m which the "boxer admitted he bad made over £20,000 and had to pay £2400 come tax. He declared that he intended to use this money to assist m the rehabilitation of the coal mines at. Lens, which were destroyed during the war. It appears to be certain that Carpentier will return to America m September to meet "Battling" Lcvinsky oil October 10. .
