Tlie newspapers are interviewing trade union officials regarding the strike. .Many are of the opinion that the Miners' Federation should not singly have power to- call a strike, causingwidespread misery and unemployment among industrial workers. i It is expected the question of intervention m the coal strike .will be discussed at the Trades Unioni Congress meeting at Portsmouth on September 6. Jt is expected the engineering lock-out, cabled on the 21st, will be averted. Negotiatiors are proceeding.
