AUCKLAND, this day. The hearing ot the sugar workers' nispute has opened, at the Arbitration Court. Mr. Wright, for the employers, said they did not want the union to be run by Labor extremists, and thought it best to bring i the dispute to tho Arbitration Court. ' :
V TAIHAPE, this day. A very large meeting of the Farmers' Union and Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Co., held at Taihape yesterday, 'unanimously carried the following resolutions: That this meeting of farmers views with alarm the efforts being made to urge the Government te grant a meat trading license m New Zealand to Armour and Co., and would strongly urge the Government to do all within its power to keep combines such as the Moat Trust from operating 'm New Zealand. — Press WELLINGTON, this day. J. H, Carr, featherweight champion boxer, was committed on a charge of snf ashing plate-glasa windows and the theft of a pair of boots.
At the annual meeting of the incorporated ' Institute of Accountants of New Zealand, Mr. .Tames Morrison (Christchurch) was elected president, and Mr. J. L. Amis (Wellington) vfce-presldent. Accumulated funds of the Institute amount Wo £11.34. It was decided to give £100 as a subsidy to the university colleges* grant made" by the Society of Accountants, and £40 was voted for distribution among various accountant students' .societies and kindred associations m New Zealand.
