OTTA\VAj Marrih 23.— Canada, leads all Allied countries m her Boldier setdement. The placing of returned fighting men on the land has been, more successful than the most sanguine anticipated.'. .:■ ■ -.'.!' ■■ Applications for loans, have poured into the Land Settlements-Board mucli faster than the land can be found aijd the applicants qualified to become agriculturists. -'Of £9,000,000 provided bj Parliament last year for loans to returned men, £8,000,000 has been, spent. And tho money is already .beginning to : come back to the Government. There are- at least a score ookf k instances .where the borrowers freed themselves from a! all obligations to the Government with the returns from their first crop.
