HEEP DOG TRIALS.

The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Sheep Dcg Trial Club was concluded yesterday, with Class IV., head, pull and yard, distance 440 yards< The maximum points m this competition were 50, the leading competitors being satisfactorily near to the possible. Parkinson's Bruce, 43Jpts ... a AI Mullooly's Glen, 36Jpts ... ... 4 Good weather prevailed throughout, and the meeting undoubtedly was the most successful yet held under the auspices of the c}ub. The entries consti-f.-'pil a record for the club-, and the sheep, which were lent for the occasion I* l. .iolden, of Waimata, and Mr. F. Colin, were all that could be desired, and they tested the ability of the competing dogs to the utmost. The juuge, Mr; Frank Reid, of Opptiki, made a very efficient judge indeed, and "many eulogistic remarks werg* to be heard when the results of the-.^events were made known, clearly indicating* that the judge was the- right man m the right place. • : ■ : < , ■■ ■'-■ The grounds were placed -at the disposal of the club by Mr. Cook, of Haiti, and were' most suitable for the- occasion. The usual toasts befitting the occasion were duly honored, and many excellent items were l-endered. In his remarks, Mr. Tucker referred to - the presence of Mr. Davis, senr., of Hawke's Bay, who was the founder of the Dog Trials m Poverty Bay, whose presence added materially to the success of the function.
