PALACE THEATRE. , "The Prince of Wales' Arrival m Auck- 1 land" was received with much applause J at the Palace Theatre on Saturday. The; film shows the arrival of the Renown, thoj berthing at., the. wharf, the. arrival of the J Government party, tho reception bnj board, the landing of the Prince and all; the festivities- held m his honor. It is . an excellent and entertaining film, and gives onlookers an intimate view of the arrival and the various functions held m Auckland. •' . . ■ The dramatic, part of the programme is made up with two five-reel^ star subjects, m which the well-known : book' "The Way of a Man 'with a Maid"* is shown m photo-dranla form; and the melodrama "Tempted," with Geraldine Farrar^ m the stellar role. "The Way of a- Man with a Maid" features: the. popular Bryant Washburn, who. is supported by a", -very fine, cast of -Paramount players. . The .story concerns .the winning of a young society bud by the son -of a riiMdle-class tradesman. The dramatic and the humorous -elements' are well bal-' aliced, and tho climax has a charm quite its own. The Geraldine Farrar subject is a lavishly produced melodrama, concern- ; ing the life of a singer who eventually' rises to international honors. Well . told and -.- vividly ..portrayed, it simmers wit hi excitement from, beginning to; end.'-, A Alack' Sennet t comody is- particularly 'funny. On. Wednesday "Thc^ Caplahx Case" will be screened. 'This drama is-. founded on "the known facts' of the in--; trigue that .startled the political world: J EVERYBODY'S: i ; ' With - sueh 7 special features as Norma Talmadge m %he Probation Wife" and Mr Earle Williams m "The Hornet's JNesty" : there was no doubt .that the crowded attdience at Everybody's on Saturday night Would fee well . pleased .with the new programme provided;, .indeed, everyone seemed highly delighted with both' productions, while the comedy. ."To Let" was enjoyed by all, being quite topical m some aspects. ' -v'The' .Probation Wife" tells the : story of how a, girl made good When all the circumstances- seemed to., bo overwhelmingly against her,' and incfdentally it gives amusing examples: of how a wife triumphed when her husband began "to neglect , her for another woman. "The .Hornet's Nest"; gives the popular Earle Williams a great" opportunity., which he uses to much advantage. It is a forceful story of a man 31 who became as ocial outcast through shielding an unscrupulous woman and of another man who was induced to turn from evil ways, and a, pretty 'romance greatly' increases the -interest of. the play, which is", a gripping one throughout. Some photographs of H-M.S.^ Renown's visit to Gisborne, jn •vhich ' individuals could, be: clearly- seen, were, fully appreciated. .An additional attraction to-night will be views of the Prince of Wales' visit' to Auckland, also the Maori reception .at. Rotorua, a film .of -historical value to. NewZealanders. ©ne of the f eaturoswill bo the ■ children's demonstration . m the Domain, *: .whilst particular interest is centred round ; the Maori reception at Rotorua. : -
