I Xgat-apa Hiding.— Only ordinary surface work has been carried out m this riding. Motu Riding. — Contract 261, Koranga I bridge : Very little additional work to : that reported at last meeting has been • done to this contract, but the contrac- , tor hopes to get going again this week. Contract 266: I arranged with Mr. . Honey (the only tenderer for this work at last meeting) to do this contract at my estimate of 13s per cubic yard, plus j 2s per cubic yard for all the stone that requires double handling ; he has since made a. start, and has quarried about 50 cubic yards of spawls. The Remaining 160 cubic yards of metal ordered from Motuhora has been delivered and is now stacked at the railway crossing near Mr. Tombleson's. Tlie maintenance contractors on the Motu Valley and Motu , front roads have been attending to j watertables, culverts, and small slips. j Tho Council's team that was surfacing ; with shingle between Matawai and j Motuhora had to stop owing to the river . rising : another start was made yesteri day, about 60 chains still remaining to jbe done. I Karaka Biding. — As instructed I have prepared plans and specifications for repairing "> Rangatira' bridge, and tenders have been called to close to-day.' Surface maintenance and patching have been carried out on the 1, main road, but it is rather pitted and pot-holed as a result of the wet weather.
