Five thousand girls are •wanted for the Land Army to carry on the work that is being hastily dropped by tens of thousands of women who took up farming during the war. It is proposed that the girls m the new Land Army shall have an opportunity of creating n^ serious career for. themselves m agriculture. ■• Girts of suitable physiquo "who intend to remain on the forms will be ieoxamhied by the county organisation of thd Women's Branch of the Board of Agriculture, and only those who are fit m every way to continue the strenuous and exacting: work will be allowed to remain. It hag been decided to raise, the minimum wage, making the pay of th& girl land-worker about £1 per week for the first three months/ including her period of training. After the probationary period the womon will earn a. minimum wage, of £1 4s 3d a week.
