GIANT AIRPLANE OF ITALIAN ACE.
ROME, April 19.~The giant airplane Arit.li which Gaproni proposes crossing the Atlantic is nearly completed, judging^ from the reports current here m Rome. It is "a. monster bird of the air of the famous Caproni tri-p'.a,ne type, but larger, / stronger., and swifter than aaiy hitherto seen or perhaps iptenjuvd. Caproni has given it the name of the White Eagle. It- has five cabjn^^itted up luxuriously for the passengers fe wil.' take with' him, and ample storage room for food and other necessaay supples for making a trip half around the' world. It- • Ims a ' speed of 200 kilometres per hour. •/"■•'
The map as routed for the trip, at present contemplates flying from the starting point m Italy to Cadiz, .Spain thence to Vhe Azores amd on ti> Washington. "Man to-day," says Oaproni, "has surpassed the bird m the art of flying. The aeroplane rises more rapidly, attaining heights the condor cannot reach ; he flies farther, exceeding m speed and endurance every bird of passage." "The day will come when the sky will be /furrowed, by anonster airships capable of carrying, a hundred, and. even more passengera, witfh cabins and bods, rooms for eating and reading, and all those de sirable conveniences which make a long journey enjoyable. These aeroplanes will have enormous dimensions, stability and safety, equal to th© great trans-At-lantic linem."
