STRIKE AT ROSLYN.
(Per Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, this day. The difficulty at the Roslyn woollen mills has apparently reached an acute stage. Li the beginning twelve men and two boys left their employment as a protest against the decision of the management, to employ a new subforeman. A mass meeting of mill hands on Saturday night unanimously decided that negotiations for a settlement be opened up. It was also Tesolved,- with one dissentient, m favor of supporting the hands who are out.
[A message from Dunedin on Thursday stated : Some fourteen spinners and piecers, employed at Roslyn Woollen Mills, left work m a body on Monday. It is alleged that tliey had grievances because an old employee had been superseded by a man brought m from outside. In order to express their dissatisfaction they .went on strike. They were still out this afternoon. The union covering these workers • is registered under the Arbitration Act.] • *■
