Sharemarket : — Sales reported : Colonial Sugar £24 2s 6d, Talisman Mining 10s 2d. , * At a meeting of the University Senate to-day it was resolved toi send congratulations to the Otago University on the jubilee which takes place this year. The chancellor gave a resume of the history of the university of New Zealand and the University Colleges. References were made m the discussion to the enthusiasm shown by the people of Otago m all matters pertaining to education; also to the assistance of Sir Robert Stout m connection with university affairs. The Rev. A. Cameron referred tq the generosity of the Otago people m assisting educational institutions with donations and m orther ways. Discussion took place on the subject of the matriculation conditions for candidates of mature years. ■ The Senate decided that these might take the examination m two sections, mature years being defined as not under twenty-five years.
