AUCKLAND, this day

Before the Epidemic Commission Dr. Freriglcy, Deputy Health Officer, stated that the number of doctors absent from the Dominion on military service was 228, and of nurses SCO. As the result of investigations he had no doubt that influenza bacillus was the primary enemy, and that associated with it there were other organisms responsible for fatal pneumonia and septicaemia. He had sent wires warning the Southern Health Officers of the very serious nature of the disease, and had impressed bn them the need of taking effective steps.
