PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
{Per Press Association.) CHRISTOHURCH, last night. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-day tlie following telegram was read fronn the Rev. A. T. Thomson, agent of the British and Foreign Bible Society: — "Could not the Assembly commend thej Glovernmerit's decision noti to restore Sunday trains?" It was moved that the Assembly rejoiced' to support the Government m its solicitude for the welfare of the railway employees, and ite desire to confirm to the people the blessings of the day of rest. The motion was carried unanimously. The Wanganui and Dunedin presbyteries submitted an overture asking tlie Assembly strongly to recommend that sessions shou'd be urged to discontinue tlie use of fermented wine at the Communion service. It was decided to recommend sessions to use unfermented wide. Lieut. -Colonel Cossgrove, Chief Commissioner of the / Dominion Scouts, wrote bringing under the notice of the Assembly the value of the Boy Scout movement as an adjunct to church nvork. Tlie Assembly decided to bring the"' movement under the notice of ministers, Sabbath school superintendents, and leaders of Bible classes. After adopting an address expressing the Assembly's loyalty, the proceedings closed.
