ALLEGED UNDESIRABLES.
♦ WATERSIDERS SEEK FURTHER INFORMATION. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The Attorney-General issued, an order .recently prohibiting the landing m New j Zealand! of two men who had reached a Dominion port from Australia. Subsequently Messrs: Glover and Roberts, representing the watersiders waited upon the Minister for an explanation. In the Qourse of his reply, Sir Francis Bell stated that he was satisfied the persons m question were of such a character that their presence m New Zealand would be injurious to the public safety. He had arrived at that conclusion upon information which, was satisfactory to him. He could not disclose the information upon which he acted 1 . It was one of the most important elements of public policy .and;*jsecurity.. ..thai, the source's of information, whether Government or police, were absolutely sacred. The Minister added -that nobody hated more than he did the exercise of power of the kind, but m certain instances the power should exist.
