THE MAYORALTY.
MR. W. G. SHERRATT'S DECISION:
NOT TO ACCEPT RE-ELECTION. The Mayor (Mr. W. G. Sherratt), who "was approached by a deputation of local business men yesterday, asking him to re-consider his decision m respect to retiring from the Mayoralty and not again offering his services to the borough, officially announced his decision to definitely retire from local politics for several reasons, including those he mentioned to the deputation yesterday, that of health and the faot of his interests now being m the country. He also intended withdrawing from the Hospital Boardl In view of the Mayor's decision, Mr. G. Wildish states that he has definitely decided to contest the Mayoralty. ' Mr F. J. Lysnar was approached today m connection with the Mayoralty, and has consented to nomination. Cr. DeCosta, whose name has also been freely mentioned as a probable candidate, states that he is not standing for Mayoral honors.
