THE SMOKE NUISANCE.

Proceedings have been instituted, in the Supreme Court against the Borough Council in connection with the smoke nuisance alleged in respect of the Borough power house. A writ has been issued by Messrs. Kirk and Burnard, on behalf of Stanley Vivian Beaufoy and Emma Beaufoy, residents of Childers road. Plaintiffs claim £300, and an injunction restraining, the Council, alleging that unwholesome smoke and noxious matter from the Council's power house have rendered . their houses dirty and uncomfortable, and have deteriorated the value of the property. Excessive noise and vibration from the machinery of the power house are also alleged to have occasioned much discomfiture.
