GISBORNE HIGH SCHOOL.
At the monthly meeting of the Gisborne High School Board yesterday there were present : Messrs Mann (chairman), J. W/ Nolan, A. F. Matthews, F. J. Lysnar, A. C. Steele, and J. W. Bright. Messrs Bright and Mann were ' appointed to" execute the mortgage of section 170. The : Rector's report showed that the attendances per annum since 1913, when the school opened, were as follows:— 1913, ,100; 1914, 147; 1915, 227;' 1917, 261; 1918, 263; and this year 303: Two additional class-rooms and two additional teachers, added the rector, would be required to. cope with the increased number. / Mr Rowley, of the Gisborne School, had kindly lent \ some desks until others could be procured. Seventy boys "were m residence at the rectory and 31 girls; at the hostel both being full to. overflowing. j The action of the Chairman m au- '< thorising a number of necessary works ■ since the last meeting was confirmed. The rector^ recommended Fay Brown and Basil Hundleby for boarding scholar- i ships for the ensuing year. The recommendation was adopted.
