CYCLONIC STORM.
EAST COAST MAY ESCAPE.

WELLINGTON, this day. 1 The Rev; Mr Bates, Government meteci'ologist, states that a cyclonic storm has developed m the, north, and this frequently brings -floods m the East Coast districts, but. at the present time Mr Bates thinks it probable that the FJast Coast will escape the worst effects on this occasion. Nevertheless the conditions are s« threatening that it is wise to take all precautions.
