MAROONED ON GALLIPOLI.
ILLNESS OF NEW ZEALANDERS. (Reuter's Telegram.) LONDON, Dec. 31. A delayed telegram from Constantinople states that British brigades landed at Gallipoli on December- 13th.- There was no display, Turkish officers quietly surrendering. Later, French troops occupied the south bank, and suffered a sudden change of climate. The New Zealanders are becoming sick with recurrent malaria and influenza. There have been a few deaths. The old cemeteries and graves- were found overgrown and all crosses and marks of identification removed. There have been some violations, but all the areas can be enclosed with a monument giving all the names. The general defences had been enormously strengthened since evacuation. ,
