SYDNEY, Dec. 31. The crew of the Makura refuses to man her unless each member is insured 1 for £500 against death from influenza. (Received Jan. 2, 10.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 2. It is believed m shipping circles that the claims of the crew of the Makura indicate a far-reaching general movement, as -the firemen of the Loongana at Melbourne refused to man the vessel unless granted higher pay.
