The New Year Honors include the Premier, who gets a K.C.M.G. I (Special to tbe Ueralaj CHRISTCHUUCH, this day. Bir Joseph Kinsey is a native of Kent, England. He was at the Royal Naval School, Greenwich. Afterwards, for some years, he was master at Dul-wioh-College,-..a position he 'resigned m. 1880' to come to Christchurch to enter commercial' iife. • For - many • years -h^ was a partner, m the shipping and-in-surance firm of Kinsey, Barns, and Co and later of Kinsey and Co., but he retired from active participation m the business several years ago. In addition to taking, a lively interest m public affairs m Christchurch, he had been olosely connected with and deeply interested m the British Antarctic expeditions under Scott and Shackleton, and was a great assistance m connection Avith the local arrangements for these expeditions. For several years he has been consul for Belgium m Canterbury Maryborough, Nelson, and Westland
