Tlie Auckland Soft Goods Union of Employees again asked the Arbitration Court to grant an award, stating that tlie membership had increased and certain modifications had been made m the demands. Tlie employers objected on the grounds previously stated, that a large majority of the employees were opposed to any award. The Court reserved its decision. At the Supreme Court ;.M,r Justice Cooper made a formal order validating the sale of a company's assets. The motion was not opposed. The Judge also granted a sine die adjournment of a motion- to <have a company's accounts inspected. WELLINGTON, this day. _ Mr V. Fraser, .the Labor Representative Committee's nominee, opened the Wellington central by-election campaign last evening. He criticised the Govern, ment, whom he declared had brought about the present industrial unrest by failure to deal properly with the oost of living question. The candidate criticised^ the Government for not preventing war profiteers' exploitation of the sacrifices made by the best men m tha country. He advocated the fullest edu- | cation of children, and electoral rej forms, including preferential voting. The court-martial of Corporal D. d'Oridant has concluded. The decision will be sent forward for confirmation and promulgated m due course. , j
