The High Commissioner, .reports : — LONDON,. August 20, 1 a.m. , French 'official: Southward of the Avre we captured Beauvraignes aftei desperate fighting. East of the Oise we attacked the German front for a distance of 25 kilometres im the- region of Gailly, on the Aisne, realising along the whole front an average advance of four kilometres. Several thousand prisoners were taken.
