FIRM HEART NECESSARY.
♦ — FLING COAL AT THE ENEMY. LONDON, Aug. 12. In hid speech at Newport the Prime Minister, Mr. Lloyd George, emphasised the importance of the push-back of the Germans from within gun range oi Amiens' railway. He said that 100 trains daily used to pass through, but we had been temporarily deprived of its use. Then recently we were ablo to employ 20 trains again daily. Amiens would now be safe. But the struggle was not over. The country must depend upon its resolution and couragi, and must keep up heart. "W T e aiv now doing well," he said, "but a firm, steady heart is necessary. The business we have undertaken is one of those things Providence' gives to a generation to do for all ages." Mr. Lloyd George proceeded to refer to the difficulties of obtaining sufficient coal for the needs of Great Britain. France, and Italy, and stated that some men who were • taken from the industries for service m the army were unwilling to return to their previous employment. They say : "No, we are going back to fight." * It was difficult to beat a country . which produced such men. He appealed to everybody connected with the production, of coal to do his very beet to get more. "Fling coal at the enemy," he said, "hurl it m wag-gon-loads. Every ton, every extra wajrgon-load, represents liberty, justice, and peace throughout the world." mmmmmmmmm — — mmm
